J. Coble Materials grew directly out of J. Coble Construction — a working general contractor that was hauling clean concrete debris off job sites every week and paying to dispose of it. Instead of continuing to pay someone else to landfill perfectly reusable material, we built our own yard to process it.
That background matters: we're not a recycling company that happens to sell aggregate. We're contractors who understand exactly what a job site needs from its base material, because we use it ourselves.
Today we operate a dedicated concrete recycling yard at 2250 Hatchery Rd in Burlington — accepting clean concrete from anyone, for free, and turning it into a premium recycled aggregate available to the whole region.
We're also the only dedicated concrete recycling yard in Alamance County. Everyone else nearby is a landfill that recycles concrete on the side, when it suits them — which means inconsistent material and inconsistent availability. Our yard sits right off the highway in the heart of Burlington, and recycling concrete is the whole business, not a side operation.
Concrete doesn't belong in a landfill — it's one of the most reusable materials on a job site when it's handled right. Every load of clean concrete we process becomes usable 1.5″ recycled aggregate instead of buried waste. It's better for the environment, and it's a direct, cost-effective substitute for traditional ABC stone for anyone who needs base material. Genuinely a win on both ends.
Clean concrete gets crushed and screened right here at our Burlington yard — no trucking it off to a third-party processor and waiting weeks for material back. What comes off our crusher is a consistent 1.5″ minus grade, ready to load the same day.
